Capitol Hill Block Party

Well, I think I'm finally recovered enough from the Capitol Hill Block Party to write about it; it was a rough morning. Chris bought us tickets as a birthday present for David; they block off a couple of blocks in Capitol Hill and have a bunch of bands on a few stages, although I don't know where the other stages were (I only saw one). We got there at 7:30 and it was really crowded and lame, so we figured that what we needed was some beer. So, we went and got a couple of beers at Elysian Brewing Company. Both of us enjoyed our selections. Then, we decided to try another bar, so we walked up a few blocks and found somewhere that looked like a dive. The rainbow flags and the burly yet really, really friendly bouncer should have tipped us off that it was a gay dive. There were a couple of other ladies in there, but I was the only one who was born that way. The women's bathroom didn't even have a lock on the door, because seriously, who's going to walk in? We went back to the concert, but the band wasn't very good, so to kill time, we went into another bar. The headlining band (Vampire Weekend) started around 10:30. The governor introduced them. They were ok, but we don't know them very well. So, we started to head over to Nate's going away party, but we ran into Chris, Kristin, and Casey and we stayed for a little longer. Then we decided that we actually did want to leave. On the way over, we watched a dodgeball game in the park. That was pretty entertaining. We made it to the bar, which is only a couple of blocks from our house. Details get a little hazy from here on out, but it was fun. I just wish I had hydrated before going to bed.
